Whether it is your first flight in one of their beautiful hot air balloons or you are a regular customer, a ‘champagne’ balloon flight is an adventure. The flight lasts for about one hour and the whole experience usually lasts between 3 to 4 hours.
Bristol flights: Once airborne, you will have an immediate opportunity to see many famous and historical landmarks from a different perspective. As you fly out of Ashton Court Estate, you will have an immediate view of the Clifton Suspension Bridge; other sights may include the SS Great Britain, University of Bristol, Bristol Cathedral and the Cabot Tower. If the wind is taking you in a northerly direction sights may include, Bristol Zoo and Blaise Castle. Your flight may even take you over Filton, home of Concorde and Rolls Royce.
Bath & Wiltshire flights: Bath is a wonderful Georgian city with Roman origins. Sights may include, the Royal Crescent, Jane Austin Centre, the new Bath Spa, Bath University, the Assembly Rooms, the American Museum at Claverton Manor, the Roman Baths, Dyrham park, Castle Combe, Bowood House, Cheddar Caves and Gorge, Avon Valley Country Park, Pultney Bridge, built by Robert Adam, the Kennet and Avon Canal and the river Avon. A northerly wind direction will take you over Longleat House and Safari Park.
Glastonbury & Wells: Set in the Mendip Hills, notable landmarks include, Glastonbury Tor, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves, Wells Cathedral, and the Quantock Hills. To the South the Somerset Levels stretch away into the horizon.
Ballooning is very weather dependent. The main flying season is between March and October with morning and evening flights. In the winter, flying is restricted to weekends, when the weather and ground conditions permit.

At what time of day do we fly? Balloon flights are made either early in the morning or in the evening when the air is at it’s stillest. Flight times vary throughout the year and depend on the length of daylight hours. Is it safe? Yes, ballooning has an excellent safety record and Ballooning Network’s flights are fully certified by the Civil Aviation Authority. Is there an age limit? From 9 to 90 but it is recommended that an adult accompany a child under the age of 16. With more elderly guests the only requirement is that they are adventurous by nature and fit enough to stand unsupported in a wicker balloon basket for the hour’s flight. Where do we meet? All passengers receive a copy of our comprehensive “Ballooning Network – Booking & Meeting Arrangements”. These contain detailed maps and instructions on how to access our many launch sites. Medical conditions? Women who are pregnant must not go ballooning. Please note we are not qualified to express an opinion as to whether you are or are not fit to fly. How long does it take? Allow 4 hours for the round trip and please note that ballooning is a treat to be savoured not rushed, each flight is different and may vary. As a guide only the actual flying time will be around 1 hour.
